Carteret County Retired School Personnel strives to ensure retirement with dignity, to promote quality education, and to advocate for human, civic, and economic rights for all.

✔️To promote the social, economic, and professional status of retired school personnel
✔️To promote the social, economic, and professional status of retired school personnel
✔️ To support the NCAE and the NEA in programs to advance the quality of education and promote the welfare of members
✔️ To act on behalf of retired school personnel on problems involving their health, welfare, interests, and other needs
✔️ To lobby the General Assembly on legislation related to the State Retirement System and the State Health Plan
✔️ To encourage members to influence state and federal legislators on legislation that impacts the quality of retirement living for members of the NCRSP and other retirees
✔️ To cooperate with the National Retired Teachers Association (NRTA), a division of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), and other organizations of retired persons with common goals to promote programs for retirees
✔️ To encourage and recognize every member’s volunteerism and accomplishments

Carteret County RSP
Carteret County is one of the one hundred local units that make up the North Carolina Retired School Personnel. Through its officers and those on various committees, CCRSP is designed to serve its members and at the same time be supportive of active school personnel.

North Carolina is appreciative that its retirees give much of their time to volunteer work. In 2020 members gave 134,357.47 hours to Community Service, thus saving the state $3,834,562.19; of the total, 37,435.25 hours were in the category of education with 96,922.22 hours designated as other. Although COVID-19 greatly minimized volunteer opportunities for NCRSP members, retirees still contributed significantly to making North Carolina cities and communities better places to call home.

The total volunteer hours reported by Carteret County members for hours given in 2020 was 4,784 hours; using the 2020 rate of $28.54, the estimated value of a volunteer hour in the United States, our local unit saved North Carolina $136,535.36. Julia Thorn with 1,160 hours was Top Volunteer for 2020; her hard work saved the state $33,106.40. In 2021, Nancy Ustach gave 1,195 hours of volunteer service saving North Carolina $3,410.53!
